FACT:

Did you know that there are 90,874 public schools in the United States?

New Hampshire Partners in Education is once again proud to present its statewide contest, "The Power of a Penny" Help your students and your school discover the mysterious power of a penny.

This fun contest will help your students understand the important lesson of saving pennies and help your school reach a specific goal along the way. Last year over one million pennies were raised by the participating schools and over 51% of the money was donated to charity. Villa Augustina School from Goffstown was selected as the contest’s first winner, but clearly all of the schools and their children benefited from this activity.

This year’s winner will receive an all-expense-paid visit from

Sammy Rabbit from the "It’s a Habit Company” to your school during

NH School Volunteer Week May 15-19, 2006.

Sam Renick, a children’s author, song writer and founder of The It's a Habit! Company, Inc. (IAHC). It’s a Habit! is a socially conscious company dedicated to providing parents and educators with fun, wholesome, easy to use tools that encourage kids to develop good habits, like saving money and reading. The company actively tours schools and other venues with a life size costume of its main character Sammy (the "Get in the Habit” Rabbit) sharing life changing and empowering messages like: From every dollar save a dime; saving is a great habit; save, read, go far!

It’s a Habit! and Sam have been featured on KTLA, FOX, KMEX, TV Azteca, the KNX Business Hour; NPR and in several newspapers throughout the country. The company has also been recognized by the state of California, the cities of Los Angeles, Monterey Park, Baldwin Park as well as Los Angeles and Baldwin Park Unified School District for its efforts to encourage children and families to build life empowering habits.
